![]() Yeah, see what you mean, though haven't 1.5 suits been worn in competitive swimming before?

![]() I like this one, from 1992 Olympics, I think.
http://www.thezerosbeforetheone.com/...er_1215442.jpg Got to be a 1.5 inch brief. Reply With Quote This is indeed Tom Jager - US Olympian in 88 and 92. I'm positive the suit he is wearing is one of the dearly missed 'paper suits' from the late 80s-mid 90s era. They were made by Speedo, The Finals, and a few other makers. I still own a 30" navy blue Speedo paper suit, and having just measured the side seam, can confirm it is virtually a 1.5" suit (1 and 5/8 inches to be more precise). You also notice the hint of a white tag along the waist above Jager's left buttock, which is the exact same position where the Speedo tag is located in my suit. The paper-thin fabric left nothing to the imagination, and swimmers tended to downsize even these tiny suits, giving the suits an even briefer, skimpier appearance. The most wonderful swimsuits ever invented, in my humble opinion... |

![]() I suspect the white logo we can not quite see on the front of Jager's suit says "USA" or something similar. Speedos sold here in the US have always (as far as I can remember) had the Speedo boomerang logo on the front of the suit on the swimmer's right side/right hip, so any team logos were on the swimmer's left hip side.
