Thats a Purdue P logo, if you blow it up, you can see the classic diagonal Purdue P

Byron - I believe that swimmer is a member of the University of the Pacific team (located in Stockton, California). The "P" with that orange slice through it is similar to the baseball caps the university sells here: http://shop.pacifictigers.com/
