Where's the highest city in the world and was it in Peru that the wreckage
of a British airliner which crashed in 1947 was revealed in recent years?
(the movement and melting of an Andes glacier at last showed up what had disappeared without trace despite many searches at the time - and ironically the incident contributed to modern aircraft navigation safety as much was subsequently researched about the JetStream at high altitude)

in peru there were many aircraft accidents. thanks heaven not in recent years! but your post made me investigate about this 1947 crash you're writing, but excuse my ignorance, I don't even know about this story. but I will ask my family if they know something. there was an aircraft crash in the sea in front of Lima (the capital city) that was the worst accident in the hisotry of peruvian aviation. this crash made change a lot in the airplanes all over the world as the aviation systems had improved a lot since. sadly but true. and the cause was because a stupid aircraft engineer left a metallic tape near the radar when doing the check just before the airplane departed. of course every one involved directly or indirectly are now in jail, because of their negligence. well, I was only 7 or 8 years old when it happened, but this story stills scrares me a lot. but as I told before, in the late 90s and in the 2000s there were minor incidents but not fatal, compared to other countries.

Sorry to confuse you - it is my ignorance to be excused (and I was also trying to recall La Paz Bolivia at high altitude).
The Lancastrian of British South American Airways crashed into Mount Tupungato in 1947, so it was in Argentina (it was on a flight from Buenos Aires to Santiago and was buried in deep snow in bad weather).
The story is fascinating and is called the Stardust crash but I guess that air accident investigation reports are only of interest to wonks like me (give me a PM if you have the time however - just a few details of date and airline for the Lima crash, so that I may read it up).

Meanwhile back on topic there might come a time and place where something a little riskier might be welcome. I could tell stories from my single, partying days where it was determined my Speedo was a little too much. So save it for those moments when it might not be on for long anyway. Not at all, Byron. By too much I mean I discovered I was very radically overdressed for the overall situation... have you ever gone on a daysail on a 60'ketch with over a dozen folks who turn out to be nudist swingers both straight and otherwise?

LOL - I think I can confidently answer no to that (but does a mundane tourist day excursion on the Red Sea count as coming close?).
Sounded like possible material for the Story Center there at first but now I realise no speedo material aboard to form the basis of a tale.
