I too like the heavier Lycra - some suits seem to have simply no body to the fabric at all.
It seems Bear Wear started in Arenas Avenue Palm Springs in 2003 but very disappointing website - just nine expensive swimshorts there.

Bearwear in Palm Springs is a little disappointing I agree. I was never in PS until two years ago, so it was somewhere else. In those days I was hitting Key West a lot.
