I suspected that the top edges of the front panels would be straight rather than curved, as the curves are convex and elasticated it would seem strange for it not to fold over into a straight line. Elastic only works on concave curves and straight lines.
If I tried to copy this suit I would start with the same contour swim pattern that I used for the padded triathlon suit, then start modifying the pattern.
Part of the fun of sewing a suit is altering a standard pattern and not quite knowing how it will look until it is finished.
The pouch part of this suit looks rather unlined in the photo.
