Pardon me for asking, but exactly what is the liking for jammers and bike shorts?
I know people have personal preferences for different things (like Chocolate VS Vanilla), but in my personal opinion, jammers are one of the weirdest looking and feeling clothing ever devised. ![]() |

I would like to say yes we will see actual speedos in competitive swimming but the television execs are concerned about people seeing something if they were to show a male in an actual speedo.

some double standards here - more than one very skimply clad male (and deliberately intended so) participating in Splash - and a new series to come we are told (it bombed in the USA I believe). |

Splash bombed in the USA, but not because of Speedos. It bombed because of some of the contestants they selected and what they put it against. Frankly, I agree that not all of the cntestants should be seen in a Speedo or other race type suit (and luckily they were not). I also think what makes Splash so good for GB is the rally around Delay. The US does not have a similar equivilent in diving, imo. Now a show with Phelps and Lochte would draw millions...

I agree, if Splash had Phelps and Lochte it would draw millions of viewers. The TV execs here in the US still would not show a male below the waist in a brief regardless if that male happens to be Phelps or Lochte out of concern someone might see something.

A popular TD-type is needed to anchor a somewhat slapstick show such as that.
Love him or hate him, he pulled in the tv viewers by the millions, despite severe panning by the critics (who always write to tell us that they know best and frequently get it wrong). |
