I think heavy metals are used as inexpensive dye-fixing agents. So if I dyed a fabric red and didn't fix it, it would bleed out when washed (or you swim in it).

So lately, I'm really getting weary of off-brand items. I read about problems with bad sheet-rock, toxic baby toys, etc. and if it's also a problem with swimwear, it's another thing to worry about. I realize I'm NOT going to ingest it, like a child may chew on bits of cloth, but still.... I hate to be wearing it.
