![]() The hotel's swimwear policy bans:
Jeans and pants {all long trousers to us Europeans} Cut off clothing {long trousers cut down to shorts)} Baggy clothing (jeans or shorts) {This seems to mean any denim or long shorts} Athletic gear {My guess is this bans short running shorts, Lycra running shorts and all square cut shorts above the knee} Underwear See through clothing {Anything in a light colour} Offensive prints {All prints are offensive to someone} European sunbathing { being British I'm European and therefore banned from sunbathing, all Americans of European descent would also be banned from sunbathing, many Afro-Americans have a trace of European blood going back to before the civil war and should also be banned from sunbathing, this rule is deeply rascist and probably illegal} The rules above ban all mens wear from the pool area except plain dark coloured swim thongs, swim briefs and square cuts, or going in naked. They also ban a significant part of the human race who have European descent. The sign by the pool area saying "No speedos" is not supported by the hotel's official published rules and could be challenged in court. The sign was ambiguous and Speedo should challenge the hotel in court for misuse of a registered trade name and bring it into disrepute. The poolside ban would also ban all Speedo brand non swim brief products. Would a cross dressing, or trans-sexual man be welcome in this pool if he/she chose to wear a skimpy bikini identical to that worn by his sister ? One thinks not. ![]() There has to be a lot more to this story than he is letting on. I and other friends have stayed at the Encore/ Wynn Hotels many times and wore speedos at the pools Since it was noted a guest complained I have to wonder if his actions were offensive or if the yellow suit became transparent when wet. Guests escorted away from the pools, bars or casinos in Vegas is because of disruptive actions or they are drunk. The persons attire is seldom an issue. Sexual orientation is never the issue. Unless their actions are advertising it, how would anyone know a person's sexual orientation just by looking? It sounds like he is trying to get his 15 minutes of fame by screaming foul when there is none. Since I have worn speedos by these pools and was never the only one, I find it impossible to believe his "because I'm gay wearing speedos".
To clarify some of the listed restrictions by Torchwatch. Since I was manager at a huge resort hotel and had a similar list. First let me say that these rules are there to use as a guide for the guests. Complaints can be stopped when they can be shown no rule is broken. Jeans and pants {all long trousers to us Europeans} BOTH ARE STREET WEAR NOT APPROPRIATE IN A 5 STAR HOTEL, ALSO METAL TRIM ON JEANS CAN DO DAMAGE TO SOME MATERIALS SUCH A SLIDES Cut off clothing {long trousers cut down to shorts)} SAME -- NOT SWIMWEAR, BUT STREET WEAR Baggy clothing (jeans or shorts) {This seems to mean any denim or long shorts} WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IS GUYS (STR8 OR GAY) THAT WEAR VERY BAGGY SHORTS THEN SIT IN A WAY TO DISPLAY THEIR JUNK Athletic gear {My guess is this bans short running shorts, Lycra running shorts and all square cut shorts above the knee} I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS LISTED BUT AM GUESSING IT WOULD BE RUNNING, BASKETBALL OR FOOTBALL (EITHER KIND) SHORTS Underwear NO DOUBT A FEW HAVE TRIED TO USE THEIR Y FRONTS TO SWIM IN See through clothing {Anything in a light colour} THATS A NO BRAINER Offensive prints {All prints are offensive to someone} THIS IS MORE FOR THE RACIAL OR ETHNIC SLURS PRINTED ON TEE SHIRTS THAT MAY BE WORN TO THE POOL AREA. OR PRINTS OF PEOPLE NUDE IN HAVING SEX European sunbathing THAT ONE IS FOR THE WOMEN --NO TOPLESS SUNNING. (however if so inclined, Mandalay Bay Hotel has a topless pool/beach just up the strip) As with just about anything, people will try to find a way to feel they are being unfairly singled out when it is usually in their head only. Actions are the main reason someone is singled out. Just about every quality hotel anywhere in the world will have their rules clearly posted at the pool entrance and usually in the rooms. If there is a language issue either the pool host/hostess or concierge will have it in other languages. |

![]() I have read elsewhere that he made a scene at a TSA checkpoint, prior to this, saying he was singled out for being gay.
