Of the four of them, Josh is probably the one who is in the most difficult situation right now. Everyone but Bill and Joe know that only a moment ago, before the knock on the door, Josh was playing with himself, inside that little Desmiit® Thong, and having a pretty good time of it all, feeling sensations that he had never before felt, at least not quite in the ways they were happening today.

Most guys more-or-less know what it is like to get interrupted in a situation like this in the middle of it all. To further complicate matters, Dylan has just tossed Josh Dylan’s forest green wrestling singlet, admonishing him to wear it for the gym. That seems innocuous enough on the surface, I guess, but Josh has never before had the “opportunity to wear a wrestling singlet. Now, wrestling singlets are not the easiest clothing items to get into. A properly-fitting wrestling singlet needs to fit almost like a second skin. After all, it wouldn’t work well if a wrestling opponent could get a firm grip on the cloth making up the singlet. The cloth itself is really smooth. Shoulder straps are not very long either, and getting into the singlet usually requires that the guy pull the lower part up into the crotch—in Josh’s case a crotch covered with an equally snug-fitting thong.

So Josh struggles at first getting himself into the singlet, pulling it up as tight as he can into the crotch. By doing that, he is just barely able to get the shoulder straps both over his shoulders, but with difficulty. Josh glances at himself in the little dorm room mirror, and can see that his penis in an up and forward position is clearly visible as an interesting little “lump.”

Josh surreptitiously looks over First at Joe, then at Bill and Dylan. He notices that all three of them have interesting bulges in their groin areas as well. Of course, the other three guys are wearing straps and cups under their outer gear, which, well, makes the shape somewhat different from what Josh is “showing.” Still, the other three guys are certainly not “flat” in the groin area either, and somehow that comforts Josh, if only a little.

Guys, particularly college-age guys like Josh and Dylan, always have an interesting relationship with their penises. Guys grow up essentially being very “scared” of inadvertently getting into a situation where their penises start to perhaps unexpectedly start to grow on them. This is one of the oddest things about being a guy—that is, the whole idea of how something that could potentially be so embarrassing can at the same time be so much fun. The “kick” guys get from touching and rubbing an even partially erect penis is all but indescribably enjoyable. It’s not only the physical sensation but but an emotional high of sorts as well. And, the really weird part is that this often is a great deal of fun even if a guy is not in the presence of a sexual partner, male or female.

None of the four here, Bill, Joe, Dylan or Josh, are admitting to being sexually interested in other guys, as in having a gay or even bisexual side. All four of them are just figuring out ways of obtaining sexual sensations without having to deal openly at least, with the complexities of a sexual partner, male of female. Still, all four of them have managed to get themselves into a place where they are at least a little bit interested in what the other guys are dealing with here, each in his own particular way.

Think about it for a moment. What college age guy would not be interested in seeing how other college age guys his age cope with situations in which an arousal and erection might occur? This is the deepest, darkest secret for guys who are still in high school. The public profile high school guys (straight or even gay) have is all about eroticism relating to females, not what other guys might be struggling with as individuals, but this is different, way different.

At some level, Dylan understands what Josh is struggling with here, and is fascinated with seeing exactly how Josh “copes” with something that has gotten, well, pretty intense to say the least. Of course, Dylan was “messing” with Josh by tossing him the forest green singlet, and in effect, ordering him to put that on over the thong. Dylan secretly realizes he is putting Josh in a very difficult spot, so to speak, but he is fascinated with how Josh’s mind and body will respond in this new situation.

Dylan, of course, has created a situation of his own by putting the strap and cup on under the snug-fitting Tesla gear. But remember, Dylan “learned” what he knows from Bill and Joe, who are similarly clad. Dylan wonders not only how Josh is dealing with his own situation, but how Bill and Joe are “coping” with the situation at hand as well.

But, for now, everyone is off to the gym, wearing what they are wearing. Will the gym workout make things better, or worse for the four of them. I guess that actually depends on how you define the term “better” or worse. But one thing is for certain. The situation that each of the four have gotten themselves into is “interesting”.

A lot of guys (women too) believe that relationships and sex are inextricably intertwined. What were the words in the old tune “you can’t have one without the other!”? Wait, the tune referred to love and marriage, not relationships and sex as such. That tune was written a very long time ago, when people weren’t nearly as open in talking about sex. So everything was cast in the framework of love and marriage, rather than relationships and sex and how the two ideas were intertwined.

Let me reset the scene for my readers, not that anyone who has been reading this has gotten lost in the sequence of events that got the group of guys to the point they are right now. Four 19-year old college freshmen, none actively involved in what one would call a relationship with a female, or a male for that matter. The four guys are Bill, Joe, Dylan and Josh.

College guys often soon discover that the “rules” that applied with respect to a lot of stuff, involving sex or not, that seemed rigid during much of high school, now suddenly seem much looser and easier. Many guys now seem just a bit more open to revealing to each other some stuff that they might have never dared discuss when they were still in high school. For example, in high school, if a guy were to even admit that on occasion he had “fun” with his penis not in the presence of a female partner but on his own, he was in real danger of being socially ostracized, teased and even bullied for the remainder of his high school days.

This is really pretty silly, if you stop and think about it. Every guy was doing “it”, probably quite frequently but if at all possibly, surreptitiously, either under the “cover” of darkness or in a time and place where no one else was around (infrequent, at that age). Since puberty, doing “it” had become a very important if not essential part of a guy’s daily life, yet no one dared say a thing about “what was going on.” This all seems crazy in many respects, but that is the way it was back then.

[Your author, being “well past” his own high school (and college) days, sometimes wonders whether if I could be transported back to the same place and time for a day or two, whether there would be any changes in the old “rules” about all of this and if so, in what ways, but that is not possible unless someone invents a reverse time machine.]

A related problem or issue is that the vast majority of females understand all but nothing about the possibility that a guy could experience sexual feelings and pleasure in the absence of a female partner (or perhaps in this day and age perhaps increasing acceptance of the idea that the partner could be another male). Moms, being largely ignorant of all of this themselves, generally teach their daughters that they as young women are the sole way guys get sexual pleasure.

But guys all know that the “habits” learned at a very young age are often very difficult to break, even as guys enter into relationships with partners. This all comes to a “head” when the female, being studiously taught by their mothers that guys get sexual pleasure only by “interacting” with a female partner, accidently “discovers” her boyfriend engaging in solo sex, say, in the bathroom. The guy is just continuing within the part of himself he always thought was really great fun. The poor guy then has to quickly dream up some “lame” excuse for what he was “up” to so as to not create a confrontation with his woman, who is now sobbing uncontrollably upon discovering that the guy who she thought was her loving partner does not “behave” in exactly the way her mother told her he would and sometimes occasionally (often) seeks out sexual pleasure “on his own”. The horror of it all!

What does this all have to do with Bill, Joe, Dylan and Josh? It turns out, a lot. College freshmen are oftentimes packed two-to-a-room in very modest spaces, say in older double dorm rooms measuring maybe 12 x 15 ft, with small twin beds on either side of the room or perhaps a double over and under bunk bed. Further, there are still many older dorms around where the bathroom is a large room with multiple sinks, stalls, urinals and showers. Sometimes the stalls do not even have doors on them. It’s not quite navy submarine living conditions, but close.
