![]() When I got to college, I quickly realized how dumb my idea of trying to rid myself of speedos had been- I mean, I REALLY liked them (still do!). So some point during Freshman year, I went to a Speedo Authentic Fitness store (remember those?) and bought a suit. I can't remember if it was a standard 3" or one of the original solars, but it kept me fulfilled until Sophomore year.
Sophomore year, I got a mailbox off campus at a shipping store, got my own checking account, and boy, did I start collecting speedos. Free from the knowledge of my dorm roommates, I could subscribe to whatever swim catalogs I wanted, and I could order and have shipped to me whatever suits I had a fancy for. I think by the end of my junior year I had close to 30 suits, including at least a couple of my beloved Tyr 1" bikinis. I also vividly remember some kind of special Nike technical suit which was VERY slick and soft. Man, if I had any of those suits now I'd be so happy... but alas, they wouldn't have stood the test of time- it's 20 years later! |

![]() great story. I remember Hind suits. I was big into triathlons back when Hind was big and all the guys raced in their swimsuits. The trisuits had not come along yet. I still have a couple of Speedo triathlon race briefs with the Speedo name across the back. I loved racing in those, getting to run the course in nothing but my suit along with all the other hot guys doing the same.

![]() I think my fondness for speedos came around age 11 or 12. I remember wearing regular old swim shorts during the 80's which were very short then and they had that built-in nylon liner. That liner caused an instant erection every time I put my suit on. Anyhow, so that started my love affair of stretchy nylon and spandex fabrics.
My first encounter ever with a speedo was around that same time when my mother took me to a department store. I remember seeing a speedo-like suit hanging from one of the racks. I instantly became all excited and knew it would be awesome to wear. Of course at that age, I would never have worn one in front of anyone, let alone ask my mother to buy it for me. So I did the unthinkable, I shoplifted it. My heart was beating so hard as I pretended to drop it on the floor and quickly shoved it down my pants. I thought I was going to die when I walked out of the store with my mother. It was some generic brand suit that was black with little colored stripes on the side and a white stripe that swooshed down the sides of the leg openings in the front. I still love the thought of that suit to this day. I remembered putting it on at home and the feeling was just so awesome. Even at that age, I had wanted to go outside wearing it but there was no way I could ever do that. Anyhow, that's all I can write for now, but there are plenty more speedo adventures that I have to say. |

![]() I also hit the marathon shopping area years back. Hind was great and they made some pretty thick shorts, Animal Short was the name I believe. Sorry to say they did not last. Th material just disintegrated and the waistbands lost their elasticity.
