PS Dave. I agree with you. I have often wanted to make the same comments you did on this board but was concerned about treading on someone's toes/ego. I wear the suits at 2 to 3 inches on the side all the time and have never had an issue.

Of course at that particular pool all of the other guys were wearing shorts, so I would say they have greater problems.

Feeling uncomfortable around other people is not logical. We don't want to upset someone whose reactions we cannot predict so we try to avoid their personal space. Wearing speedos we may not mind being seen but do not want to ram them down someone's throat by entering their space.
We don't want to cause embarrassment, we don't want to be embarrassed by the embarrassment we case. We pause for a moment and finally decide that since we will never see these people again we may as well do what we planned to do in the first place but with conflicting emotions.

Are you kidding? If someone is uncomfortable seeing a man in a conventional speedo they should not go near a poor or beach. You are not "ramming it down their throat", you are just another person out for a swim. The only time you should concern yourself about what others may think is if you choose to wear a white speedo (or any other style swimsuit) to a family beach.
Does that philosophy govern all that you wear? I personally do not like purple -- would you avoid a particular color or style shirt because you may make another person in the crowd uncomfortable?
As with anything in life -- if you don't like what you see -- Don't Look!!

As far as I’m concerned I quite enjoy feeling a bit uncomfortable . I know that sounds weird but wearing something small or bright or small and bright is thrilling . I agree it’s no fun with no one around . And I guess we all have a level where we feel comfortable / uncomfortable . So good for you bede.

I posted that 3 years ago, but I've found as I get older I'm more and more comfortable with my body. That kind of situation doesn't bother me now.

So one day while kayaking and fishing. Its probably 90 degrees out. I usually wear a small thong to tan in while on the lake. With nothing but woods to my backside I thought what the hell. Took off the thong and laid face down on my kayak. It's mostly a flat boat. Well time passes and since its electric motors only I never heard another boat float up within 40 yards or so. Thought what am I going to do now. For sure they seen me. Because I can see them clearly. Its a man and a woman in a small fishing boat. They fish for about 10 minutes or so then to my surprise they strip down to there birthday suits and jump in. The whole time looking my way. They never swim over but I wouldn't of cared at that point. I stayed the course and kept tanning and they finally got in there boat and drove away. And I was cool with that. But my heart was racing for a bit.

Somehow where I am our sides are less, like the norm seems to be 1,5" seems normal to everyone at the pool but the sides do seem to thin out naturally after a few uses, I find it odd that there are such wide waist swim briefs out there to buy.....
