Default How did you get started

I was on swim team since a little guy, so it just came with being a swimmer. Lots of my guy friends wore their speedos for swimming, but shorts or board shorts if not at swim practice or meets. I really liked the look and the feel of my suits so I never did the shorts thing. But, for guys who were never on swim teams, I am always curious, what got you into this awesome swimwear? How old were you and what was your first suit? For me, my first suit was a navy blue Speedo brand Nylon brief. The first time I really remember that I was into them was a black and gold Speedo Nylon/Poly suit at about age 14. I loved that suit. I don't know what happened to it, but it was the suit I remember growing up in (in so many words). What's your story?

For me it was the required segment of gym class, swimming. We were issued an all nylon suit in blue to be worn that class, and returned to be cleaned at the end of the period. I believe they were called Ocean Brief (will check on that later today). The sides were, I guess, 4 inches. The two layers of nylon moving back and forth different directions was very stimulating to me at 14.

Not to say that some of these suits came home with me, but I still have some of them. One is still in the original box and has yet to be worn (not sure why).

Then there was the wrestling segment of gym..............

That time in my life it made an impact. Had to have one so I did. Every so often I open the box and look at it. Still in the same shape and color it was. One thing you can say about nylon, it lasts.

Will have to figure how to get a pic of it here. I only have an iPhone. Will look into this.

As a young boy I wore some kind of nylon swim briefs, I probably had them handed down from my older brother, most of my clothes were. At secondary school I had a pair of navy bri-nylon square cuts bought for me, they had a fake fly with a functionless button at the top although they were actually held up by an elastic waistband and draw string. I never really liked them, I guess I remembered the greater freedom of the briefer suits and the fabric was uninspiring.

After school one summer's day I followed a couple of friends to the school pool, not having my swim kit with me I planned to swim in my PE shorts. The short white cotton shorts went completely see through and weighed a ton once wet. I had to keep one hand on the waistband to keep them from falling down for the rest of the swim session. Being transparent the shorts weren't hiding anything anyway. I've never really wanted to swim in shorts since then.

After leaving school and being able to buy my own clothes I bought a pair of 3" plain black nylon Speedos. They felt great and so light and sexy. First time I wore them to swim I got hard between the changing rooms and the pool, and had to dive in before anyone noticed.

It wasn't long before I bought a 2" pair, black nylon again but with red and white flashes at the sides. I just felt people were watching me whenever I wore them.

From then on I have always been looking for the briefest and brightest swim brief I could find, especially when Speedo started using Lycra.

Some time ago while looking for something to wear on my cycle and rowing machines in the loft I came across the Stitchboy swim wear patterns website and discovered I could make my own swimwear. There is something fascinating about turning a flat piece of fabric into a 3D garment that was defined by the human body.

Never had a Speedo until I took a learn-to-swim class in college. The school provided us with swimsuits, but they were more like 'square-cut' trunks, made out of a scratchy, almost canvas fabric. After a few days of that, I decided to get my own suit at a local sporting-goods store. Back then (early 80s) the only choice was black or navy blue nylon Speedo, so I got navy blue. I was nervous taking it to the cash register - even then, there was a certain 'sexual' interest in such a skimpy suit, but I think I was more nervous/excited about owning a 'real' swimsuit that 'real' swimmers wore! As I got more into swimming over the years, I took more notice of how hot male swimmers are in such suits, and I guess my 'interest' has only grown since then!

I never wore speedos as a kid. Being a gay teenager looking at porn, I liked looking at speedos and wanted to wear one. I bought one when I was 15, but never actually wore it in a pool until I was 19 and swimming in the college rec center. At 20, I bought a speedo square-cut suit, and wore that when I swam at the pool with friends. That summer was the first time I wore it around my parents too. Thankfully the only comment about it was "Oh, you got a new suit."

Camber sands is still a good place to wear speedos, park at the far (west) end of the car park and head though the dunes to the beach, anywhere between here and the river is good. Avoid the naturist defending his wife and stopping anyone walking past in the dunes.
Once saw a good looking young guy there in a nice thong, enjoying the sunshine and showing no embarrassment at being seen by others.

Default 70's Nylon Speedo and Ocean

I started on the swim team like many others. The coach made us buy two suits....one Ocean suit with the wide white panel on the sides to be worn for practice. They were probably 4 or 5" sides and were double lined. The other was a maroon (team color) 3" speedo, considered to be racy even back then. I wish I still had them...the memories are still fresh in my mind!
