Default More and More Guys in Synchro - Not the easiest sport to master

They should include synchro in swimming programs for boys and men in schools.

Default Another Guy in Synchro

Forget the sparkly bathing suits and smiles, this is an incredibly difficult sport for guys.

The primary thing holding men back from getting into synchronized swimming is that they remain prohibited from competing at the Olympic level, though most other competitions now allow them to be part of a synchro team (though all male teams are still forbidden in most competitions)

Default Synchro and Bathing Costumes

The swimsuit in this competition is a reminder when men wore swimming costumes that covered their tops just like their sisters.

My high school P.E. class actually had a very brief lesson on synchro swim. It was at the end of the year when we just spend the last 2 weeks in the pool. Nobody took it seriously but it looked incredibly difficult.

Should synchro be part of swimming programs for boys and men?

The Japanese made a movie and 3 follow up tv series about synchro in schools.
It's all played by young actors who had to learn the moves during the filming.
Well worth a look, search for Waterboys.
The movie was made at a time when there was a lot of bullying of losers in Japanese schools, which was encouraged by teachers (the losers were holding everyone back) and led to lots of school student suicides. The Waterboys movie showed the losers getting into syncho and then pulling in the rest to produce an amazing Busby Berkley finale show.

Your posts seem to be a promotion for men wearing suits with more coverage and just a continuation of the puritanical anti-speedo theme of the last 20 years.

I am getting bad vibes about your nephew's school which you tell us is 75% girls. It seems the boys are shy and embarrassed about showing their chests while swimming, conforming to a feminine dress style. They are further going into synchronised swimming as substitute girls. The Waterboys movie was a comedy, but the show the boys put on after there training was masculine full of explosive energy and puerile joy. The Russian male synchronised swimmer looked effeminate with his make up and sparkly vest and square cuts outfit, I would not want my nephew to look like that. He did the same moves as his female partner, male ballet dancers are expected to demonstrate explosive jumps and to throw the female ballet dancers high into the air, this lack of a coherent masculine role turns me against the format.

In this school I suspect that younger boys are being treated as little sisters by older more forceful girls. Maybe the boys need to man up, have short haircuts, wear military clothing and hats, and to go topless in the swimming pool.
