I have favorites for suits I swim in and for suits I hang out in. For swimming, I will always like Speedo, it is the brand I first started wearing way back. As Swimmboy says, they are my standby swim workout suit. I really like the bold prints of Turbo and some of the other polo oriented brands. Hard Core Swim has some cool stuff. For hanging out by the lake or an evening boat ride I love Funky Trunks traditional square cut.

Turbo is becoming my suit of choice.

I recently picked up a couple of "fashion" Arenas from swimwear4men.com and I LOVE them!

speedo brand is probably what I own the most of, I find they give a good snug fit and aren't low-riding at the front - I hate that.

But for good designs, you can't go past a couple of aussie brands you can buy online: FunkyTrunks and Budgy Smuggler.

Funky Trunks have a wider range now in the "high-cut square cuts" variety but still stock a few of the classic brief, and their designs are refreshed very regularly. They fit well and are very comfortable. And damned good to look at too!

Budgy smugglers have probably the best range currently of colourful and different designs, and are designed to be eyecatching. Love most of their designs, although they wear a bit looser than other swim briefs.

After spending a few hours on the beach in an Aussiebum for the first time, I gotta say that I really like those suits. I still own way more Speedos, but I like how snug but thin Aussiebums are. I also like that even the fuller, 2.5" side suits still sit lower on the hips. They're really comfortable and somehow have the thrill of feeling revealing without actually being revealing.

Although, aussieBums actually can be rather revealing!

Me either, which is why I always check the Sheer Level on all the Aussie Bum descriptions. They're on a scale of 1-10 and I think that up to 4 or so, which is what I have, they're not see through.

Many white fabrics go transparent when wet. If you buy a white speedo or bikini you should test it in the shower before going to the beach. Now you know just how transparent it is. From a distance a wet transparent white swim suit just looks like a white swim suit, walking to the sea won't be an issue but once you get wet ensure that those close around you are friends who will appreciate seeing all of your body. Then after your swim you will have to walk back up the beach to where your stuff is, it is probably best if you chose a quiet beach.

Way too much exposure for me. Especially if the AB is a Wonderjock your whole package is pushed forward and is completely visible. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
