Default need to be fit?

of course I like to keep my body in good shape simply because I like it and I love the way a fit body looks in speedos. but I don't even think this must be a RULE to wear speedos.
in other web pages i found stupid opinions from mostly women, that say speedos and alike only look good when the guy has a muscled body, or even other say you must be "hung" to wear them, etc
This is so stupid,. Why so many web pages post the do's and don't of waering speedos? Who gives a crap if somebody don't look like a "model"?

so, for many people, if I'm not hung or if I had not muscles, I can't wear the swimwear I like?! LOL, that's so

you don't have to have a model's body, but if there is the hint of the gut hanging over the waist band --- wear something else.
Speedos are a cliche for the gay male and the overweight 50 year old.

Default Just back from France

I have just got back from France, where 40% of guys on the beach are wearing square-cuts, 40% board-shorts, 10% short shorts and 10% Speedos.
In the camp-site swimming pool I went to where shorts are banned 80% were in square-cuts and 20% in Speedos. The camp-site shop were selling cheap square-cuts to those who hadn't brought their own.
A plump youth in square-cuts actually looks better than when wearing board-shorts. He may have a bit of belly but trying to hide his legs is not an improvement.
The middle aged guy in Speedos is accepted and ignored.

At camp-sites with their own pools or close to the beach it is OK for anyone of any age or figure to walk around all day in Speedos or square-cuts. Speedos or square-cuts with a tee shirt is also accepted camp dress.

On the beach it is the Speedo and square-cut wearers who are going into the sea and swimming out while the board-shorters are waddling frumpily in the shallows.

Many boys and young men arriving at the beach in board-shorts are actually stripping down to their boxers briefs (cotton underwear shaped like square-cuts) and swimming and sunbathing in them.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the sun shone nearly every day!

In conclusion, you don't need to be fit to wear speedos, but if you are you will get more 2nd glances.

The real thing was the Welch Regiment, built 1927 and cut up 1963:

Funnily enough this is on an old postcard on Ebay at the moment,
showing at £3.99 and the seller is in Kent (KenjiBoh territory)

In contrast, cold celebration of New Years Day 2012 at Dunkerque (northern France). By the look of it the speedo contribution here is by members of the local water polo club.
