Default Definition of "curious"

Can we get a discussion going about what we mean by the term "curious" in detail, especially by those who claim to be such? I'm not finding much out there, even in the urban dictionary. Please help me understand. Thanks!

50 Free,

If I understand your question, I think you're asking what curious means in the context of "bi curious". My take on it would be that guys who are bi curious are str8 guys wanting to know what it's like to be attracted to other guys, what to do when they are attracted to another guy, what the gay culture is like, how it feels, and how it would feel to have a sexual experience with another guy.

If I've misunderstood, maybe you can clarify exactly what you mean.

I am along the lines of D67. I think it is natural to have some curiosity about things we don't really understand, sexuality certainly being one of those. When a guy says he is curious with regard to sexuality, I take it to mean he has some openness to explore the sexuality of whichever identity he is curious about. Generally, this means a guy is str8 with a desire to explore gay sexuality (does that make him bi?, not sure). The depth of exploration is interesting. For some, it might just be to learn more, not actually try anything. For others it might mean deeper levels of exploration. I think many guys who say they are curious really have no intention of ever actually trying anything. Some, however, might have some attraction to the same gender, and are more willing to see where that takes them. While it is more common to hear curious from a str8 to gay perspective, I also think there is a degree of curious that goes the other way, although many guys who are gay tried some level of str8 activity before accepting their gay identity.

There are men now in their forties and early fifties who as adolescents may have had a clumsy grope with a mate in the woods but following convention married and had a child or two. After the birth of their youngest child they found that their wives had lost interest in sex and over a period of years caressing, hugging and kissing died off too. Typically the man may have bought a king size bed for lots of sex while his wife approved the sale as in a big bed they would never need to touch.
As their children grew and left school these men would find themselves living separate lives within the same homes as their wives, some of them controlled on when and where they can go out in their free time.
Finding their lives unfulfilling these men think back to earlier happy times and remember the grope in the woods and wonder what would have happened if their lives had followed that path. They become curious, explore the internet and eventually seek someone to meet.

This issue to me boils to a question of "what if?" The typical scenario may be a str8 man who never has any sexual attraction to other men in real life situations at the gym, bar or pool, but occasionally finds an image on the internet that peek his interest. This same man greatly admires himself but not other guys. Yet he thinks to himself WHAT IF another guy came along who fit all the narrow specific criteria who just happened to be a great looking guy very similar to himself. Who just happened to be gay and really liked him. There would be 3 possible outcomes.

1 He would realize that this is real as oppose to conjured up what if fantasy, a discovery this really isn't for him.
2 Feel some temptation, but know that many of his straight friends would frown upon this behavior if they knew, therefor resist and walk away.
3 Be aroused to the point were he goes with his urges and takes a walk on the dark side.

The question is, if a guy cannot definitively rule out scenario 3, does that make him bi-curious? Bi-sexual? Or completely straight since scenario 3 is very hypothetical?
