We wouldn't be going until February or March.
We will still need to be careful to be sure that any hotel we book will be operational when we go.
Some time ago, we had booked a hotel on Siesta Key that was damaged in a hurricane.
We were told that it would be reopening on the day we were scheduled to arrive.
A few days before arrival, we got an update that it wouldn't be opening yet.
We had booked on Expedia so they helped us find something else, but we had to stay on the mainland.

I may not be promoting male thongs the way you are but I have made it my mission to defend the basic brief.

Every summer I make sure I visit the popular beaches wearing a proper brief.

Here in Australia it seems that some guys who prefer skin tight styles of swimwear are confined (or intimidated) to square cuts or trunks.

Sometimes my briefs are plain and sometimes their brightly coloured but I think if the crowd see a guy wearing briefs they will have more confidence to try themselves.
I thought Australians were well into their 'budgy smugglers'. I have a few of the brief made by the company of the same name. Lovely patterns, though I wish they would make them briefer. The women's 'smugglers' have very sexy styles.

It's not like it was at the peak of their popularity the 70's and 80's.
Back then briefs were the dominant swimwear choice. Still plenty of young men who prefered shorts (and they were actually short back then) but briefs were seen as the sensible choice.
These days shorts are dominant but briefs are still accepted with the 5cm racing cut the limit that most men are willing to wear.
I like the string styles obviously but the cut of Budgy Smuggler briefs is the limit of main stream acceptance.
While the female styles are more skimpy I still love the idea of "his and hers" swimsuits in mathching patterns.

I would like the idea of men's and women's matching coverage with both wearing something equivalent to the very skimpy bottoms worn by many women and no tops.

My idea of a hot "Fantasy Couple" on the beach is a tanned, fit couple in matching string Rio microbikinis, the lady in a matching top barely containing her "assets (!)" and both of them with hot, up-high bellybuttons showcased by firm abs and just ready for "Finger Fun!"

How would you like it if the woman skipped the tiny top for an exact match?

I wear skimpy men's or women's suits at the beach, not as fancy as this:
Aquadress in Japan has extreme micro matching lacy fabric men's and women's thongs, since "men should enjoy a feminine look from time to time" MT748

Women's matching suit TD530

This is an English page, but Google can translate the Japanese pages too

That would be nice where women can go topless!! But many microwear-friendly beaches would probably require "coverage" for her "assets," and said coverage would increase the number of beaches where they can "set a good example!"

In New York State, women can legally go topless anywhere, as they have the same rights as men. The FTM transgender folks at the beach have scars from breast removal, but that doesn't matter. But most people wear shorts now, not speedos or thongs.

And even though women can be topless at beaches and parks in NY, very few are.

Wearing only at thong is legal for both men and women on Miami beach, but again, very few of either are wearing that little although relatively skimpy attire is more common for both men and women there than most other beaches.
