I'm from Japan also and love wearing kyoupan. We wore Mizuno Mighty Line also. when I was on the swim team and I continued wearing them ever since.

Western versions of men's "bikini" are nothing like kyoupan.

One of my Mizuno Mighty Line suits from high school I still wear:
