Such strange black redactions for the glans rim I have often seen in Japanese cartoons. They seem to serve no purpose but does anyone know the rules in Japan for depicting the male anatomy? |

I have to agree, have seen this for a while, and never understood it. Must satisfy some type of meaningless censorship.

Yes SL - having looked at a mass of totally confusing stuff on japanese censorship I still find nothing to explain why the black bars are used and so placed.
My conculsion is that the artist has to make a concession to the censor in his works if they involve genitalia and he is not to be prosecuted. Although 99.99% of the drawing remains unadulterated and obvious, the coronal ridge (and the frenulum) is selected as a gesture, being the most sensitive part of the glans in coition. (I think we need Sebbie on this....) ![]() Last edited by Byron : 08-19-2014 at 03:36 PM. |

I believe you are correct Bryon. The artist self censors himself so he will blackout the smallest area to make the art legal to sell.
