Worst thing ever seen at a pool
Happened to me last year. I'd just finished changing after a swim, stepped out of the cubicle, and saw a father and son walking to the pool. They were both wearing 'shorts' that went below the knee.
How could the father do this to his son? He wouldn't wear gear like that to play football in. How could that be appropriate to swim in? If I was the pool attendant I would have refused them entry. |

Obviously they weren't planning on swimming by the definition you and I use. During open swim at our pool there is little swimming occurring, mainly splashing and screaming. Baggy shorts work fine for that, actual swimmers know better and wear the proper gear. So when you see guys dressed like that you'll have to just accept it.

I was recently on holiday in Malaysia and there were a lot of Arabs staying in my hotel. The Arab men swam in the hotel pool in long shorts while their women didn't, due to being covered head to foot in a gown with only their eyes visible. The western men also swam in long shorts while their women wore bikinis.
I's a funny old world... |

the gender divide
There is accommodation for that now where a Moslem woman wishing to swim can purchase an all-over body suit to not be immodest in public.
Whether a husband and/or father would tolerate such recreation where other men are also present and may be in close proximity is another matter - that is for the male intellect and not for particular garments to cope with (the details of which are not specified in the Quoran anyway - just as it does not forbid a woman to drive a car). |

Dommage....
....the gently swaying palms of an idyllic Hawaiin island were meant to cheer you up after trudging through the snow on a cold winter's day.
