Certain Jewish men, not necessarily rabbis are called "mohels" and are certified to perform the ritual circumcision which is called a "bris" done when a Jewish boy is 8 days old. These men are experts and usually there is a rabbi present to conduct the religious ritual prayers that go along with the circumcision. Others choose pediatricians to perform the circumcision along side the rabbi. Many people in large cities prefer the "mohel" because he has so much experience.
