Default what's in a name

Like you I would like to see the word speedo confined to a swimming brief only but it is long embedded in the language and the diversification of Speedo themselves have added to the confusion and the loss of the concept of the original Aussie cossie.
Many people have become used to saying JCB for excavator, Kango for jack-hammer, Hoover for vacuum cleaner, etc. etc. but one only has to view the websites of swimsuit manufacturers and suppliers to see the conflicting names applied and the departure from the original product.

My only solution is to say Speedo for a product of the Speedo Corporation and
speedo for all similar products of TYR and Nike, Adidas, Arena, etc. etc.

Vide Dave Evans, Speedo is clearly not happy with the context of speedos as
now presented on some internet sites but as for mankinis and the products of Koala I am at a loss to categorise anything but perhaps as "funwear".
