If I get up early I can be in Paris for lunch and on the Bordeaux coast by afternoon tea time.
The hi speed rail network continues into Spain.
The people that have been flying to Spain have been buying package tours, you buy a plane ticket and a resort hotel room from the travel agent, they arrange transport from the airport to the hotel and throw in activities.
The people that use high speed trains and car ferries make their own connections and find their own campsites and hotels in Europe.
The chalet/static caravan resorts in Britain sell a package but expect holiday makers to use their own cars to get there.
One company; Eurocamp run chalets, static caravans and standing tents mostly in France for tourists to stay in carrying only their spare clothes, all other kit is provided. This might be of interest to Americans who fly in and rent cars or journey by train.
The resorts are also showing images of mature and older people relaxing; drinking tea in the afternoon and wine in the evening. Who can resist a glass of chilled white wine as you watch the sun set into the sea?
