I am in Florida, but this event isn't happening until May so weather shouldn't be an issue.
I think the issue for me is a combination of everything you mentioned, but I think the biggest fear is being out in public in the "dick sock" swimsuit. I am not too concerned about the girls or my buddy's opinion here. That, and I don't even know where to begin looking for this type of swimsuit.
