The Stitchboy patterns is how I got started sewing swimwear. They are definitely a good place to start. You can buy fabric either at a local fabric store or check on eBay. I used to buy most of my fabric there. If you're serious about making suits and plan to stick with it, you'd eventually want to get an overlock machine (serger) and a sewing machine. They don't have to be expensive.
