top of the sorted list

Some brands choose the letter "A" or even numbers or symbols so they move to the top of a list. For example (2)xist underwear.

An instructor of mine (a class, not for a team) also had a similar suggestion. We were free to wear whatever we want, but they said that if you're serious, consider getting a brief. For the women in...

That's funny. If anyone walks by and pokes fun at him for wearing a thong, for example, I can imagine him walking to the person and asking "Do you have a problem with that?"

Thanks, that make sense. There sell many suits that can be used for competition, but not too many that are in men's fashion category.

The site that Bede75 mentioned, Swimwear 4 men, also sells more...

Yes, I've noticed that jammers are for the most part designed similarly, either solid or with a stripe or design down the side. Very rarely do you see an over-all pattern. Plus there's little...

You're right, as some suits do sag a bit. I also noticed that even the PBT suits have lost some of their spring - if you stretch them, they don't snap back quickly.

But I've become a bit slimmer...

buy new ones if the old ones wear out

I agree that the variety of the suits encourages one to try one new ones.

Also, if briefs or racer cut swimwear start to wear out, you want to replace them since loose ones don't look or feel good...

What people buy

I just noticed that on the web site swimoutlet.com, there are 220 different varieties of swim briefs offered, and 211 jammers. I realize that the variety or range of suits do not indicate the total...

Do PBT suits stretch out?

Do suits made out of poly and PBT stretch over time? I have some suits made of poly/PBT that used to feel a bit too small, but they feel right now. The suits are several years old and have been used...

You wear what you grew up with

This is an interesting thread with many viewpoints. I agree with SwimTeamSpeedo. If you grew up in an era when briefs were popular, you keep wearing them. Just like how people continue to listen to...

Speedo square cut

Thanks. That's interesting to hear. I don't see Speedo-brand square cuts too often at pools, but I have heard (at a swim suit/supply store) that a lot of young people are starting to buy it, so it...

In good condition

That's in good condition, considering how many years it's been. I presume the red suit was a darker color originally, but it's amazing how well it has kept up.

Tribo Do H Sungas

Does anyone, especially if you are in Brasil, know if the "Tribo Do H" brand of sunga is popular? I think they make a good product. The video shows one sunga...

I think the suits I had in the past were clingier. Some fabrics seemed to almost shimmer (maybe they were poly/lycra blends) or perhaps had higher lycra content) But I do believe they were...

Lastex

I think the fabric you have that is rubbery is lastex.

Better than being too floppy

Even if you don't have stretch, I prefer those to some new Lycra suits that may fit tight, but are thin, so you don't feel much support. Plus being so thin means it reveals more curves than I prefer.

patterns

It looks like patterns go in and out of favor. All over prints give way to solids with some side panel, and then back to all over prints. I think all over prints are popular today.

Before Lycra suits became popular, how did the suits fit, especially the ones that had some stretch. (And let's got to the era after the wool suits).

It seems that some makers had suits with some...

Thanks for answers. So it seems that it wasn't the price that gave Lycra suits higher status w hen they first came out.

But I bet it was probably considered novel and seemingly more "pro", so...

Adjust in other ways

Yes, I think it's best to use other things, like pull buoys or kickboards to adjust you swimming. I think 50 lengths in board shorts may get really tiring.

What's interesting is that the 1980's ads (Caught for speeding) probably came out when Lycra/Spandex was new and probably was considered a cool space-age material.

So maybe some people flocked to...

I haven't measured it but even when wearing mid-thigh length trunks I felt slower and felt more drag. That's why people train with drag suits. I actually wonder why they make specific drag suits. ...

Arena youth and adult briefs

Some Arena suits come in a youth and adult cut. The youth sizes are smaller, but there's an overlap with the adult waist size. The youth version seems to have a slightly smaller side seam length. ...
