Many of the young men from two colleges near me run in very short shorts split to the waist so they don't have much more coverage than a swim brief.

I do recall reading somewhere that Speedos were more common in the Clearwater St. Petersburg area than elsewhere on the Gulf Coast bur still less so than in the Ft. Lauderdale to Miami Beach.

i have vacationed on both coasts.
I have seen a fair number of men in brief swimwear in SE Florida and Key West, but very few on the Gulf coast.

My Favorite is Cooltan. Not that I care about tan lines but it is lighter weight and therefore feels less confining and dries faster.
