Great memories of those days - tight speedos and real short shorts

Aussie Bum are still producing some nice short shorts but whether anyone has the courage to wear them now off the running track I have yet to see.

I own a couple pairs of their shortest styles + wear them whenever it's warm enough.
They feel great but do offer fairly minimal coverage.
I have a black pair of their Rugby Shorts, which really are well smart, tho I wish they had pockets......
I also have a white pair of their Footy Shorts. [Aussie Rules type]
These are definitely the shortest shorts I own - they're about 8 inches long.
They also turn almost completely transparent when wet.

Wearin them to + fro at the beach I mostly get compliments.
Wearin them in town in the UK is a different matter tho.
I've had a few ironic wolf-whistles + stares, as well as comments like -
'Hey mate, are yer sure those shorts are short enough?'

I also wore them to a rugby match once, since I've always liked my Rugby Shorts nice + short.
I don't know that I'd wear them to one again tho. I'll stick with my regular 12'' Rugger Shorts.
I can handle a few comments, coz I think it's worth it, if ya get to wear somethin that feels comfortable,
but havin fifty blokes spendin every spare moment takin the rise is just not cool.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I did it + any of my mates will tell ya that I always like to wear really short shorts.
It just seems stupid to get all that hassle for wearin somethin actually designed specifically for that purpose.........

Short and short

Interesting to read of your experience. A friend of mine also likes the quality of his black ABs but has the same doubts about them for public street wear.

With a lot of intense body tackling in rugby I guess the lack of pockets follows
the same reasoning as for water polo suits.

Well, I agree that pockets in Rugger Shorts probably don't do much to improve yer chances in a tackle,
but some of the Union Shorts these days are just stupidly long!

It's not just about showin off either - I find them really uncomfortable, coz I like to be able to move around easily, instead of havin loads of loose wet material clingin to me + offerin handholds to opponents!

Also, to be honest, while I expect a certain amount of hassle if I wear my white footy shorts in town, not bein able to wear them for Rugby just seems totally stupid. After all, they're designed for exactly that kind of contact sport!

As for the street wear thing tho, that's exactly why I want the pockets!
Otherwise, where are ya supposed to stick your change from shops or bars?
