swim briefs in large sizes

I have a friend I've been meaning to buy a pair of swim briefs for (he agreed to send me pictures if I did, hehe). Ideally it'd be a low-rise cut like these. But when I asked him for his hip measurement, he said 46.5 inches - he's a big-boned guy. That seems to be off the top of the sizing chart for most swim briefs, all the more for styles we actually like. Does anyone know of a place where briefs to that specification are available?

I rather like these, I have a pair in purple but they go do up to 42"

Have contacted them and asked if they'd make 46.5" as a challenge.
They are a small company in the UK and might help out.
But sorry, they won't.

Slazenger do a XXXXL swim brief almost his size:

Try cut2me designs. He does custom underwear and swimwear up to 8XL. I met the owner a few years ago at Columbus Gay Pride, and bought a few of his thongs. They're good quality pieces.

The sizing chart I see for the sportsdirect link lists each brand separately, but I don't see a listing for Slazenger. Is the meaning of XXXXL standardized? If so, it seems promising - as long as an item doesn't run small, ordering a size smaller than recommended can even be desirable. I suppose I wouldn't be out much in any case, considering the sale it's on.

If I were to go for something custom, I'd ideally want to link pictures of a cut I like and have it imitated. It looks like that would probably be within their wheelhouse. I'll bookmark this for later.

Nothing is standardised, the design you posted is Chinese and Chinese swim briefs are 2 sizes or so smaller than you'd expect against Euro or US sizing.
Slazenger are well enough made but nothing exciting.

I can actually make swimwear, I scaled up a pair of cycle shorts for a big friend, he loved them but wanted even bigger so it is very hit or miss getting something that size right first time.

Possibly the easiest swim suit to scale up might be a string bikini, the front and back hang from a waist elastic and meet under the crotch. Scale up the waist elastic to 5XL then ask how wide you'd like the front and the seat to be. The basic design would look somethng like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Men-Thin-...aLK9 v5HVT6vg

The width of the string waistband (elastic in a Lycra sheath) can be adjusted from 1/2" to 2" or more depending on the width of elastic is used.

Don't expect perfection first time, these are unknown waters.

Your friend should measure his waist 4 finger widths below his navel. That's his Speedo size. The hip size is not a really useful guide.

The Speedo USA 5 inch dive brief is available all the way up to 44 inches. It's Lycra, fits well, rather high waisted.

Speedo Europe makes briefs to 42 inches. Hard to find sites that will ship them to US, as they are made by a different licensee than Speedo USA. But there are some.

Also this:

Price is reasonable, but shipping is steep from Australia.
