My Son's Swim Meet
 

My older son had his first swim meet of the season. I've never seen so many guys wearing speedos at the same time. He almost placed in a couple of events.

As I was sitting in the stands, I overheard a couple of moms talking. One said to the other, "These events sure are more interesting now that they make the boys wear those little bikinis."

They both laughed. "They don't leave much to the imagination," said the other with a big grin on her face. I followed her gaze. One of the boys had just finished an event and was getting something from his bag nearby. His suit was wet and clingy, and revealed almost everything.

It was interesting to see the varying degrees of comfort with regard to wearing speedos. Some of the boys covered up as soon as they got out of the pool, while others spent the entire meet wearing only their brief swimsuit.

At the start of the meet, he covered up when he got out of the pool. Toward the end he started spending a little time in his speedo on the pool deck.

I drove him home after the meet. We talked about it a bit, but I just got the typical one word teenager answers. "How were the locker rooms?" I asked him.

"Fine, I guess," he replied.

We drove in silence for a few minutes. Then the asked, "Is it normal to get, you know, hard in the shower?

"It's not uncommon," I assured him. He didn't respond. "Did you get an erection in the shower?" I asked.

"No," he replied quickly. "But I'm pretty sure I would've if I'd taken off my suit."

"You kept your suit on in the shower?"

"A lot of the guys do," he said. "Then you can just change under your towel."

"But not all of them?"

"A bunch of the seniors shower naked," he said.

We pulled into the driveway, and I turned off the engine. Then I told him about my own experience showering in high school. We'd been required to shower after gym class. While the upperclassmen had gone straight to the showers, the freshmen had nervously tried to avoid them. The teachers were strict, though, and we didn't have a choice. Eventually we had to strip and shower.

"Did you ever get hard?" he asked.

"It must have been a couple weeks into freshman year. We'd been running laps on the track and some of the girls in my class were wearing these sexy outfits. It got me a little aroused. We got out of the car and went inside. Before he went to put his things away, he stopped and said, "Thanks for talking to me about that stuff."

"Anytime," I replied.

Great you discuss these things my dad never did just had to learn as I went. Thankfully late teens guys in locker rooms were kind made feel comfortable at that time didn't see much covering up guys just got nude did what needed to do, gang showers then. Now that gym put in stalls but it's silly cause curtains don't close anyhow some guys leave them open. But do see guys not shower which is gross. Always enjoy shower and sauna after gym time.

I think erections are a major concern in the locker room and when wearing speedos for swim team at that age. It happens but not as big a deal as some guys would think.

"That's great," I said exchanging a look with his mom. "How was it?"

"Really cool," he replied. "I was kinda nervous, but it felt good to be naked with the other guys."

"Any trouble with you know what?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said. "But it's like you told me. None of the other guys cared."

That was all he said, but it's good to see him getting more comfortable.

My son's team is nearing the end of their season. They had one of their few remaining meets today.

It's great to see how comfortable they've become in their speedos. None of the guys bother to cover up on the pool deck (including a few that obviously had erections).

I was chatting with one of my son's teammate's mom. We were talking about our plans for the upcoming spring break. She asked, "So is your son going to wear his speedo on vacation?"

"I think so," I replied.

She then went on to tell me how they'd gone shopping at the mall. When she'd suggesting getting new swim shorts for their vacation, her son had said he didn't need them because he was going to wear his team swimsuit.
