Are they at all similar to the Speedo Aquablade in feel? It has distinct feel from Speedo's normal Lycra suits.

Aquablade had a heavier material as I recall.

maybe some guys take up competitive swimming because they get hooked on how the right suit fits and feels down there....or am I just imagining things?

Not in my case Sebbie, you're right on the money. My friend in middle school wore speedos as he was on the swim team. He loaned me one to try and I was hooked. And equally, some guys stay away from competitive swimming because of speedos. Go figure.
