One of the (female) he guards at Atlantis said that they did not hold up well on water slides and discouraged men from wearing them.
Seems strange because many women's suits look even less sturdy.
I had brought a mid length pair of swim shorts that were far from new and one of the side seams ripped on a slide so my only choices were to wear a speedo or buy a suit at resort prices, so I went with the speedo that I had brought.

Speedo style suits hold up just fine on a water slide. I’ve never had an issue. They are more comfortable getting in and out of the water wearing them. I’m all over the place for work and when I have the opportunity to visit a water park when traveling I do. I’ve never had an issue with them getting damaged.
