As many of you know, I had my prostate removed in February of 2014, and I have been a cancer-free male since then according to all the tests. One of the side effects of the surgery is that it often leaves a guy will a lessened or even no ability to have an erection. This sometimes tends to improve over time, but sometimes not. Generally, pills such as Viagra or Cialis are prescribed, but these frequently have little effect. Another option is to inject your penis directly with the same pill chemical using a needle, every time you want to get an erection. This seemed to me to be a pain in more ways than one.

A third option is to employ a penis pump, a vacuum device that makes you hard. I’ve already written some about my experiments using an inexpensive penis pump I found on ebay. A decent quality pump can be purchased for as little as $15. But, given the number of vendors it is clear that the market for these pumps extends a lot further than just as a device to treat ED in those recovering from prostate surgery. They have become “recreational” devices that can be used by any guy including those who can get a hard –on without one in an instant. I have also been experimenting with a fourth option, called an e-stimulator, or estim for short. Interestingly, estim units are also being studied by doctors for the treatment of erectile dysfunction as another alternative to pills, shots and vacuum pumps. Much like the pumps, these units are sold in large numbers from ebay, and a basic setup can be had for under $20. And like the pumps, lots of these are being sold to guys for pure recreational use. And, of course, there are plenty of pornhub videos demonstrating their use.

The transmitter takes the low-level 3 volts of current and makes it into something higher in voltage but even less current. There is a control that allows you to vary the current level continuously, plus a number of buttons to set different patterns. At the lower settings, the current is more like a tickle, feeling similar to a vibrator. As the level is increased, at the higher levels it feels a bit like a sting.

Now, keep in mind that the impulses from the brain that start an erection are electronic and in some ways the electronics in the estim are stimulating the nerves that cause an erection to occur. Also available are accessory kits for this unit that are designed specifically for women. Assuming you want to run your first experiment solo, I would recommend the unit and accessories I ordered, as this will give you a good idea as to whether this is for you.

My nearly every night routine now is to start with the estim device and play with that until I get a bit of a hard-on from the repeated stimulation. I follow that up by crawling into the penis pump and doing some edging by repeatedly raising and lowering the vacuum, recognizing that psychologically I am already feeling pretty good after getting the estim treatment. My assorted thoughts on estim devices and penis pumps after 2 months

I have been “messing around “ with a small, inexpensive estim device and been using that in conjunction with an equally inexpensive penis pump (links to actual items in posts above). My readers in part keep reading me I think because they enjoy jerking off while wearing not only swim briefs, but compression shorts and tights, jock straps and other gear that fits really snug in the groin. And for me, getting back to a semblance of pre-surgery normal was a slow slog. I found the clothing items I enjoyed cramming myself into pre-surgery also worked to a degree as rehab devices. But what else?

That is when I got to thinking about trying a penis pump. If this seemed to work for a portion of the guys that wanted to have intercourse, maybe the strategy could be adapted such that the use of the penis pump could a “prelude” to more intense manual jerking off. Guess what? The simple, inexpensive pump worked quite well in this respect , thank you. First, the pump is applied in multiple vacuum-release cycles to get me as hard as possible. Now some guys say if they apply too much penis pump vacuum they go right into an orgasm while still contained in the pump. But this has never happened to me. Its tough at age 72 to have an orgasm while having nothing touching the nerves on the underside of the penis.

Then I got to digging around some more and looking at the little estim devices. These devices consist of a small electronic box that contains two ordinary AAA batteries. Electronics is is used to lower the current level while at the same time raising the voltage far above the 3 volts of the batteries. Then more electronics is used to come up with various current pulse patterns and a continuous control allows the user to fine tune the “kick” the machine gives. The current goes into conducting silicone rings. Some gius put one ring around the scrotum and another around the glans of the penis, but I simply put the other ring around the penis base. A minimum of two rings are needed to complete the stimulation circuit. Then turn on the machine and start experimenting with current levels and patterns.

At low levels, the effect is very similar to how you would feel if you applied a hand-held vibrator to the underside of your penis. (How could I know THAT?) At higher levels the repeated shocks can start to feel like a bit of a sting, and the tricky part is finding the exact level of current that stimulates the erection nerves while not being uncomfortable—but there are settings where a guy will probably say “I’m really liking that!”

For me, the best sessions have been when I begin with the estim device to get me to feeling horny, and then at some point stop that device and slip on the penis pump. The penis pump seems to have an easier time getting me big and hard when the prelude is the estim. Well, MOST of these devices are sold as simple sex toys. For guys without sex partners both items introduce new dimensions into the activity of jerking off. Will these devices work as jerk-off aids for healthy patients with good erectile function? I am confident that they will. Are there any cautions or risks associated with these devices? The only caution I can think of is that when using the penis pump you need to make sure that the shield fits snuggly enough around your penis so your balls don’t inadvertently get drawn into the pump alongside your penis. That can quickly get very painful, and perhaps result in injury, but you will yelp with pain and know enough to stop very quickly if this happens. Otherwise, both of these seem to be great ways to better enjoy your jerk off sessions. I’m having fun with both of them.

I was using my estim device last night, and thinking to myself that this is about as much fun as a guy can possibly have by himself for a $15 outlay. These devices have a neat way of getting a guy hard but generally not so hard that a guy goes into an orgasm, at least not immediately. Estim devices are sold as massage units to be used on other body parts as well, and an alternative to a hand-held vibrator. Guys used to employing a hand-held vibrator should find the estim to be most interesting keeping in mind that normal muscle movement is the consequence of electrical stimulation as well.

At first, a guy’s penis doesn’t know quite what to make of the sudden burst of extra electrical stimulation, but then it soon kicks back and settles in to start “enjoying” the situation it is in. Finding the correct amount of current (which you control continuously”) is part of the puzzle—too much current and it starts to feel a bit like a sting, but too little and you will feel just a slight tingle but not enough to really do anything. Some tips on trying and enjoying a penis pump.

I have reached the conclusion that EVERY guy should try a penis pump as part of a male ritual that involves getting in touch with your body. Penis pumps are not just for the guys who are suffering to a degree with Erectile Dysfunction, but are a way for any guy who wants to have some interesting sexual fun. The guys who will likely really find penis pumps interesting are the guys who are single males, living alone and in particular the guys who think they have tried about everything there is to try under the category of Plain Ordinary Masturbation (POM). In short, the penis pump adds a new dimension to jerking off—a dimension I think most guys are going to like very much once the technique is learned.

First, as schemes for having sexual fun go without having issues or problems that present a down side this one is all but issue free. No guy has ever made a girl pregnant while wearing a penis pump. The pump is capable of producing a wonderful sexual “high” without any of the issues or problems associated with, say, taking drugs. It is nearly impossible to injure yourself with penis pump play (though more about that one later). And it is cheap. A decent penis pump can be had for around $20 on eBay though you may want to add a few accessories.

A basic penis pump consists of a long clear polycarbonate tube about 8-10 inches in length and 2 inches in diameter. At the top on the tune will be a connection for a manual or an electronic vacuum device that is used to create a vacuum in the tube. The bottom of the tube is open, but accepts a silicone sheath that goes on the end with a hole for your penis to be inserted. These sheaths come in a variety of styles and hole sizes, and presumably a sheath with a larger hole is for a guy with a larger flaccid penis.

However, in order to successfully use a penis pump, the sheath has to have a small enough hole to seal tightly around the base of a guy’s penis, which means a properly-sized sheath is the one that has a hole somewhat SMALLER that what a guy THINKS” he needs. In putting on the pump the first step is to use the tip of your finger to cover the edges of the sheath hole with a water based lube such as Astroglide® Also treat the outer edges of the sheath with the same lube. This will help because once you are inside the tube you need an air-tight fit. Once you are in, press the coated sheath end firmly against your groin.

I much prefer the manual pumps to the ones employing electricity to create the vacuum. Why? Because I get a much finer control over the amount of vacuum I get without the pump seemingly running away from me uncontrollable. At its core level this is a male masturbation method, and the technique here is always slow and deliberate.

As you pump, your penis knows it is in an odd but interesting predicament. The polycarbonate tube fits far too loose to provide any direct stimulation that way. But because of the vacuum you created, blood is rushing into your penis and you can see yourself growing in length and girth and your penis getting a reddish color. This is, well, interesting, though most guys do not get to a point where they involuntarily ejaculate inside the pump. What happens to you the first time you do this I cannot predict with certainty.

Every pump has a little air release valve that immediately releases the vacuum even if the pump is still in place which means you can go through several cycles in a single session of growing and then collapsing a bit. Size wise no two guys are the same but in my case I think growing to 5 ½-6 inches is doing very well. Feels great! Looks great!

Now for a caution. Make sure the hole in the sheath is small enough to fit very snuggly around your flaccid penis. If not, it is possible for not only your penis but part of your balls to get vacuumed right into the pump. Aside from being quite painful but you could also injure your private parts. In assembling a penis pump, the guys who are unable to sustain an erection after removing the pump like to place an undersized silicone C-ring directly over the top of the sheath before getting into the pump, and then once they are erect snap the ring down from the sheath and on to the penis base. But this works well if you are just a guy who likes to wear a silicone C-ring though the cautions say don’t do this for longer than 30 minutes or so.

At this point C-ring now in place I release the vacuum and remove the pump and sheath. Coming out of the pump I am really hard (at least for a 72 y/o!) Time for some POM. Personally I have had no difficulties keeping a hard on w/o the pump in place. I have managed to break (wear out) one of my inexpensive eBay penis pumps. The manual versions have either a rubber bulb that you squeeze for vacuum or a pull lever. I thought I liked the pull leve version better, but they have a rubber washer that must seal against a short black tube as you pull on the lever. That seal failed over time as the washer wore breaking the seal, meaning that the pump will no longer hold the vacuum, and holding the vacuum is the whole idea. The ones with the rubber squeeze bulb have no such washer.

This failed after about 3 months of heavy nightly use. There are no repair parts, but a new identical pump cost me just $12 on eBay and is on its way. Still my advice is that for longer life you may want to choose the model with the squeeze ball instead.

For me, I am using the pump as an aid in self-pleasuring and not as a prelude to having sex with a partner. But there is no reason why the pump would not be perfectly suitable if the latter is your goal as well. Some guys with ED problems complain that even with a snug silicone C-ring in place they lose their erection as soon as the pump comes off. Obviously w/o the vacuum you are going to quickly not be quite as hard out of the pump as you were with the pump in place, but in my case at least I retain a very nice erection that I am able to continue to manually stimulate very successfully once I am out of the pump. You will discover that the only way you will fit is to have your penis in the “up” position with the underside pressing firmly against the pouch of the brief. Because you are already so hard, one look in the mirror and you will see what you have accomplished. But you will really feel it as well. The underside of your penis will suddenly be feeling very pleasant. This is way more fun than trying to get a hard on from a flaccid start as you might do without the initial pump “work” that has primed you.

Running some experiments

I ran some more experiments last night working on the problem of first using a penis pump to get a firm erection and then following that by crawling into a swim brief. I was most interested in attempting to determine the size and style of swim brief that works the best and provides the best and highest quality sensations in this combination.

Basically, what I have been advising in this regard still holds. The only way you will be able to successfully fit your penis into a brief once you are in such a condition is in the “up” position, and a brief that has a high enough rise to keep you fully covered in this position is the wisest choice.

Once you have pumped yourself up, the underside of the penis will be especially sensitive to anything that touches it—it is rather interesting as to how that all works. Just a slight increase in hardness causes the sensitivity of the underside to increase by 4x or maybe even exponentially. As great experiences for guys go, the idea of having a super snug pouch pressing against the underside of your penis is an experience that falls in the category of “not to be missed”. Can you cay “mind blowing?” It is actually, an erotic “predicament” where seemingly the only way out is to become even hornier. This after you have watched yourself get really big and hard inside the pump, which psychologically sets you up.

So, I am still sticking with my advice to NOT choose your skimpiest brief for doing this to and with yourself. Choose what I would call a standard cut brief with 2 ½ to 3 inch sides. Estim and Penis pumps

As many of you know, I had my prostate removed in February of 2014, and I have been a cancer-free male since then according to all the tests.
